Captain Grinnaway

Early 1700's

In the July of 1718, a dozen men came to Delaware Shores pleading with the council and Governor William Keith to pardon them for their piracy, which was granted in exchange for information. These rugged men claimed they were taken captive by Captain Grinnaway and forced into Piracy. They were originally the crew to Captain Pinkethman who had been diving shipwrecks to recover gold in Jamaica . The same Captain who infamous pirate Blackbeard had been asking around for. The captain perished and this is where Grinnaway sails in and encourages them to mutiny. The crew agrees and Grinnaway boards their ship and takes control. The men claim they escaped when Grinnaway had boarded a captured English ship to plunder with his crew, hence they sailed away free to the Delaware shore.
