Cetacean Vertebrae

Writer's picture: hazzardlandinghazzardlanding

Its common in Delaware to find tiny vertebrae on the beach from bony-fish, but a more elusive find are large cetacean verts, like above, from a dolphin or porpoise. Dolphins have around 10 to 12 verts that stretch from their ribs to their pelvis. Consider it a gift from the earth if you stumble upon a nice vert.
