Ah, some flying dinosaurs. Cormorants are waterbirds that haunt the rocks in the bay and are avid divers for fish. You can catch them flying in flocks and living in "colonies". These guys make a low drum sound that is almost like a grunt.
These birds do not have waterproof feathers, so catching them with their wings spread in their attempt to air dry is common. They're not a fan favorite and have been looked down upon all throughout history, maybe because their "vulture like" and dark appearance. More so, they're considered inumerable pests that are never satisfied and destructive to other bird species. Maryland had a "war on cormorants" and were destroying their eggs to prevent the overpopulation of them. Personally, I think the destruction of wetlands by overdevelopment is more of the cause to endanger the "other" more threatened species. Just saying.
